THE PHOENIX

The symbol of the Phoenix is a popular one amongst the secret societies.

As always, its true meaning is multi layered (i.e. it doesn't necessarily symbolise one thing), although the bird in general is a symbol of ascension and ascension to the heavens/stars/gods is a common theme amongst religions, cults and so on.

Bearing in mind that before we land based mammals (Humans) invented the aircraft, flight was always associated with the few animals lucky enough to be able to figure out how do do it un-aided.

So we can see the general esoteric theme and meaning behind the Phoenix Bird. There are a number of angles that you can look at this from, but sufficed to say the Eagle has popped up throughout history as being a symbol used by corrupt often down-right Fascistic empires (such as the Third Reich).

Here we see the Eagle crest from the Nazi war ship the Graf Spee which was recently submerged. Notice that the Swastika (which is just another esoteric symbol) was covered up so not to upset anyone's sensitivities - talk about hypocritical!
