The other night I had a heated debate with a long time friend of mine over the Satanic influence on (many) popular Role Playing Games (RPG).

The whole thing started after I tried to suggest to him that maybe… just maybe, games like ‘Magic: The Gathering’ are immersed in the occult and that anyone who gets heavily involved with the game will at some point be engaging in simulated Satanism.

Taken from the Magic: The Gathering official website.  "Wield the power to cast powerful spells, summon deadly monsters and crush your opponents" ...but it's not simulated Satanism!

Firstly you must understand that my friend - whom I have known since we were both the age of about five - is a long time fan and player of RPG.  He and another friend, for several years now have been taking part in some of the more popular RPG’s – easily available from your average sci-fi nerd-shop.

Having read some of their own literature written by themselves, as much as I unconditionally love my friend, I can only describe his activities as lewd, disgusting, disturbing and deeply deeply satanic.

Together they write lengthy stories about sexual practices of characters that they have invented.  Often these are characters that they have ‘borrowed’ from the realms of the Star Wars and X-Men fantasy ‘universes’.  They view (legal but hardcore) pornography which will inspire them to write the most vile and decadent fiction.  And sometimes they will collect images of female celebrities (that they like) who they imagine the supporting characters take the appearance of.

There is nothing wrong with writing sleazy sex stories you may say, but in their activities they themselves consider their RPG characters to be a part of them – thereby immersing themselves personally into their own fiction.

The depth, length and detail at which they go into is too much for me to relay here, but trust me when I say – it is satanic to the core (yet they don’t realise or admit to it).

There are different types of RPG from what I understand - board games, card games (kind of like Top Trumps).  Some involve the collection of figurines which you get to paint (sounds cool dunnit?).  In others you will have replica handheld weaponry like axes and daggers.  Some go on for days, weeks, months.  Some can go on for years!

What makes these more fun for the players is that, they themselves become (at least for the time spent playing) the larger than life characters which they take on the role of in the game.

When the character is killed off in the game… they are out of the game.

Imagine what a blow to the ego that would be if you have lived that character for 10 years and then they get killed.  All that you have now is your self contained mundane life flipping burgers!  Can I borrow a razor?

As I mentioned earlier, ‘Magic: The Gathering’ - which is put out by the same folks who cursed our society with the equally Satanic Pokemon (Pocket Monsters) craze a decade ago – is one of the more popular and mainstream RPG’s out there.

This was the RPG example which I gave to my friend as being a typical satanic ritual simulator.

His main argument in defense of my assertion that RPG’s are simulated Satanism is that the game is just a game and that you are not personally casting spells or channeling spirits (real or un-real).

You are not taking a proactive role in any kind of demon worship, in fact if anything you are often fighting demons and dragons with your own fantasy wizardry – therefore "you are full of s**t!" was I believe the phrase that he used.

"RPG’s are NOT simulated Satanism Joseph!"

There may very well be those who are reading this who take the same stance, so let me therefore ask a question.

When a person is engaging in what is commonly known as ‘internet cyber-sex’, they might be on opposite sides of the planet.  No physical contact is made between the two (or more) participants.

They are not having ‘sex’ as such.

It typically involves the participants typing into an instant messenger programme what they generally want to do to each other.  There may be some individual masturbation involved, it might not go that far.  Either way it doesn’t matter.  (I hope that my mother isn't reading this!)

Here is my question:  Is this not a shared sexual experience?  Is this not simulated sex?.

If you think not, then ask yourself this… would you try cyber-sex with your own brother or sister? (please don’t e-mail me your answer… I don’t want to know!)

In-case you didn’t catch my point with that one, here is another try.

If I was an atheist and an RPG player (I’m neither by the way) and my character worshipped and prayed to a guy called Jesus, he read from the bible, he went through a Baptism ceremony and he wore a cross around his neck – would that not be simulated Christianity?

Or: If I am playing on a computer game in which I am a soldier running around a field with a gun, shooting enemies and co-ordinating maneuvers with my team – is this not simulated warfare?

Of course it is!.

I personally am opposed to the whole RPG world.  That said though, I am all for freedom of choice and it is not for me to tell anyone who is doing this to flat out stop.

I would however recommend that any person who takes part in RPG’s to study the occult and the abuse of power through esoteric meanings and compartmentalisation.  To look at hardcore Satanism, see if they ‘like it’ and then to look at the themes within these games and how they mirror satanic ritual.  Unless one is still in denial at this stage, they will undoubtedly find that…

RPG’s are simulated Satanism!
