The Island

One of the best modern films that - with artistic license - really sums up the manipulation and deceptive aspects of the Current and New World Order.

In the near future, the elite(ish) of the world pay to have clones of themselves made, so that in the event of illness, their duplicates can be used for organ donation (non-voluntary).

The clones are kept in a THX-1138 style compound where their every movement is monitored, their maintenance of health dictated and they have no idea of the real outside world.

They are told that most of the Earth has been destroyed, though the lucky ones get to go to 'The Island', a heavenly paradise which only the randomly selected few get to retire to.

Only problem... there is no Island! 

Some great concepts and positive messages (unlike the disappointing Matrix 'join Satan!' sequels), highly entertaining also - great for waking up friends who would rather watch a movie than read a banned book!

George Orwell's - 1984

George Orwell's classic and timeless book 1984 (written in 1948) is an excellent look at how far the whole 'Big Brother' government issue could go if left to prosper by the ignorant uninformed indifferent masses. This is available from amazon.co.uk by clicking here.

Equilibrium

Another movie available on DVD, which is along a very similar theme to 1984 (practically an updated version of the same story) is Equilibrium made in 2003 staring one of my favourite modern British actors Christian Bale.  Again this is available from amazon.co.uk by clicking here.

John Carpenter's - They Live

They Live made in 1988 is yet another film by director John Carpenter which along with its own sci-fi artistic license, carries a 'New World Order' apocalyptic tone.

THE EXTENDED VERSION DVD

In early 2004 (in the UK) a special edition DVD extended version was released which included some pretty disturbing background information about the Sheriff of Nottingham's character played by Alan Rickman.  Click here for more info.
