Rather than answer the questions, Rumsfeld shamelessly exploited the tragedy of 9/11 to deflect them. Rumsfeld would have us believe the war in Iraq has reduced the threat of terrorism. Actually, it has turned Iraq into “the training ground for the next generation of ‘professionalized’ terrorists,” according to the National Intelligence Council, an arm of the CIA.

• Privacy has suffered since 9/11, report says - Anti-terrorist measures taken by the federal government since Sept. 11, 2001, have seriously eroded Canadians' privacy, and the trend will worsen unless the Privacy Act is overhauled, a new report says.

• Bush Wanted To Invade Iraq If Elected in 2000 - Two years before 9/11, candidate Bush was already talking privately about attacking Iraq, according to his former ghost writer. • President Bush authorised secret monitoring after 9/11 - President George Bush has admitted he authorised secret monitoring of communications within the United States in the wake of the 2001 terror attacks. He said the monitoring was of "people with known links to al-Qaeda and related terrorist organisations". The President said the programme was reviewed every 45 days, and made clear he did not plan to halt the eavesdropping. He also rebuked senators who blocked the renewal of his major anti-terror law, the Patriot Act, on Friday. He said they acted irresponsibly and were endangering the lives of US citizens.

• Surveillance and its snowball effect: Imagine cars having secretly installed GPS devices to track drivers. It's not that far-fetched - Bush administration officials struggled today to defend themselves in the wake of new reports of government surveillance of ordinary Americans, while congressional leaders of both parties called for increased scrutiny of White House access to individuals' personal data. An article in today's edition of USA Today revealed that all domestic vehicles sold in this country in the last four years have been secretly equipped with electronic devices that enable their locations to be precisely and constantly monitored by the National Security Agency. The newspaper reported that the Big Three automakers - General Motors, Ford and Daimler-Chrysler - were approached by government officials shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and agreed to install the GPS devices on all their vehicles.

• PERSPECTIVE: GOP memo touts new terror attack as way to reverse party's decline - A confidential memo circulating among senior Republican leaders suggests that a new attack by terrorists on U.S. soil could reverse the sagging fortunes of President George W. Bush as well as the GOP and "restore his image as a leader of the American people."

• Eye scans: A high-tech hall pass? - The brushed aluminum box on the brick wall glows purple, a rim of light around an unblinking HAL-like eye. You peek in and stare for a second, and the steel doors click open. A soothing female voice says: "Identification is completed." Freehold Borough School District installed the iris-scanning devices in its three schools last month. It and a district down the road in New Egypt are the first U.S. school systems to study what happens when adults are asked to eye-scan to get in the door each day. Privacy and safety experts — as well as locals — are divided over the use of such technologies. • FBI claims Bin Laden inquiry was frustrated: Officials told to 'back off' on Saudis before September 11 - FBI and military intelligence officials in Washington say they were prevented for political reasons from carrying out full investigations into members of the Bin Laden family in the US before the terrorist attacks of September 11. US intelligence agencies have come under criticism for their wholesale failure to predict the catastrophe at the World Trade Centre. But some are complaining that their hands were tied.

• Tearful FBI Agent Apologizes To Sept. 11 Families and Victims - In a memorandum written 91 days before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, an FBI agent warned that Americans would die as a result of the bureau's failure to adequately pursue investigations of terrorists living in the country. FBI Special Agent Robert Wright, Jr., who wrote the memo, led a four-year investigation into terrorist money laundering in the United States. Wright began crying as he concluded his remarks at a Washington press conference Thursday. "To the families and victims of September 11th - on behalf of [FBI Special Agents] John Vincent, Barry Carmody, and myself - we're sorry," Wright said before walking out of the room. Vincent and Carmody have also expressed a desire to expose information regarding alleged FBI missteps prior to Sept. 11. Wright's June 9, 2001 "Mission Statement" memo warned that, "Knowing what I know, I can confidently say that until the investigative responsibilities for terrorism are transferred from the FBI, I will not feel safe.

• Scandal Inside the FBI: Did G-Men Miss the Boat on 9-11? – NewsMax.com has learned that active FBI Special Agent Robert Wright Jr. is about to blow the whistle on his superiors for hindering investigations that might have prevented the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm, scheduled, then postponed, a press conference for Wednesday where Wright, cloaked in anonymity until now, was going to tell the entire story. The shocking details should be out in a few days. Wright complains that when he tried to continue and pursue certain terrorist investigations, he met with retaliation from his bosses and from the Justice Department, which made it clear that it wanted the probes to go no further.

• Agent: FBI Could Have Prevented 9-11 – A veteran FBI agent Thursday charged that corruption inside the bureau derailed investigations that could have averted the terrorist attacks on America on Sept. 11. His lawyers said the FBI had evidence that the World Trade Center was a possible terrorist target. In a memo written 91 days before Sept. 11, Special Agent Robert G. Wright Jr. warned that Americans would die as a result of the FBI's failure to investigate terrorists living in this country.  Wright went public at a press conference even though FBI Director Robert Mueller ordered him to stay in Chicago and threatened him with criminal prosecution if he spoke publicly about the agency's wrongdoing.

• Indian Times Again Highlights Goss-Hijackers Link: ...Goss is well-clued to issues in the Indian sub-continent, although he is said to take the conventional American view about the vital role Pakistan has in the war on terrorism without examining how and why the country became a magnet for terrorists. Most controversially, Goss was having a breakfast meeting in Washington with the then ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad at the exact instant the 9/11 hijackers flew their planes into the World Trade Center. Ahmad was a Taliban supporter who was subsequently removed from his job when he continued to bat for the outlaw regime post 9/11. Some reports have suggested that Ahmad and the ISI had links to -- or foreknowledge about -- 9/11. A money transfer from Karachi to the hijackers in Florida has never been fully explored or explained. • Alleged Hijackers May Have Trained at U.S. Bases: The Pentagon has turned over military records on five men to the FBI - U.S. military sources have given the FBI information that suggests five of the alleged hijackers of the planes that were used in Tuesday’s terror attacks received training at secure U.S. military installations in the 1990s.  THREE OF THE alleged hijackers listed their address on drivers licenses and car registrations as the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.—known as the “Cradle of U.S. Navy Aviation,” according to a high-ranking U.S. Navy source. • Hijack 'suspect' alive in Morocco - A Saudi-Arabian aircraft pilot who was named as one of five suspects on board one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Centre, has turned up alive and well in Morocco.

• 2006 Zogby Poll: Over 70 Million American Adults Support New 9/11 Investigation - Although the Bush administration continues to exploit September 11 to justify domestic spying, unprecedented spending and a permanent state of war, a new Zogby poll reveals that less than half of the American public trusts the official 9/11 story or believes the attacks were adequately investigated. The poll is the first scientific survey of Americans' belief in a 9/11 cover up or the need to investigate possible U.S. government complicity, and was commissioned to inform deliberations at the June 2~4 "9/11: Revealing the Truth, Reclaiming our Future" conference in Chicago. Poll results indicate 42% believe there has indeed been a cover up (with 10% unsure) and 45% think "Congress or an International Tribunal should re-investigate the attacks, including whether any US government officials consciously allowed or helped facilitate their success" (with 8% unsure). The theorists do not believe eyewitnesses, physical evidence, engineering studies or even the claims of Osama Bin Laden, so it is unlikely that they will be convinced by grainy video frames. Release Of Pentagon Images Direct Assault On 9/11 Truth Movement: Politically timed release also coincides with Bush record low approval and surveillance furore - The release of new video images of Flight 77 hitting the Pentagon is both a direct assault against a 9/11 truth movement that has flourished in recent months and an attempt to reinforce the attendant propaganda of 9/11 in light of Bush's 29% approval rating. Before the release of the new frames news networks immediately went on the attack, saying that the images finally put to rest "conspiracy theories" and questions about the official story. In addition, Fox News commentators related with pensive looks and pursed lips that this footage answers the furore over secret NSA wiretaps and surveillance by 'reminding Americans why it was being done'.    (COMMENTARY:  We vaguely cover the Pentagon damage contradictions in our popular '9/11 Archive' for precisely the reason that this seems like a 'strawman argument' (i.e. a manufactured argument that can be later disproved in order to create incredibility to the whole subject).  The fact that the mainstream media tend to cover this aspect of the 9/11 cover-up rather than controlled demolition of WTC7 and other, more solid aspects - that they themselves broke, in many cases - is a clear indication that this debate has been set up to be knocked down via the 'strawman'.)

• Lawmaker Wants UW Lecturer Fired Over 9/11 Views: Barrett Expressed Views On Milwaukee Radio Show - University of Wisconsin-Madison officials are reviewing the background of a UW-Madison lecturer after a state lawmaker demanded he be fired for his beliefs about Sept. 11, 2001. Kevin Barrett has a doctorate and lectures on Islamic culture and religion. He is also co-founder of a group that believes some in our government arranged the Sept. 11 attacks. In some circles, especially academic ones, the debate over what really happened on Sept. 11 continues. VISUAL EVIDENCE AND ANALYSIS WORK: -

Now there are several different elements and angles of 911 that one can look at.  Those who are unsure (and/or those are virulently opposed to the 911 truth movement) will often in the very first instance look at the classic 'conspiracy theory' (although I tend to not use that phrase) material such as the 'Hunt the Boeing' type stuff which analyses the videos and still photographs taken on 11/09/2001 with a view to finding visual inconsistencies between the official story and the evidence.  

For this type analysis there are several great books and videos which do an honest and fair job and have raised some serious issues which need further mainstream exposure.  So let see some information on these sources...
