These recently declassified documents make a great case against anyone who is of the argument that... "The government would never hurt its own civilians" ...and there are plenty of those people around!
In 1962, the then president Kennedy disapproved the project... and we all know what happened next. Bear 911 in mind when reading this next one...
OTHER SOURCES: - NEWS ITEMS: - ABC NEWS (Original Link - http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=92662) U.S. Military Wanted to Provoke War With Cuba Book: U.S. Military Drafted Plans to Terrorize U.S. Cities to Provoke War With Cuba By David Ruppe NEW YORK, May 1, 2001 In the early 1960s, America's top military leaders reportedly drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba.Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans reportedly included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities. The plans were developed as ways to trick the American public and the international community into supporting a war to oust Cuba's then new leader, communist Fidel Castro. America's top military brass even contemplated causing U.S. military casualties, writing: "We could blow up a U.S. ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba," and, "casualty lists in U.S. newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation." Details of the plans are described in Body of Secrets (Doubleday), a new book by investigative reporter James Bamford about the history of America's largest spy agency, the National Security Agency. However, the plans were not connected to the agency, he notes. The plans had the written approval of all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and were presented to President Kennedy's defense secretary, Robert McNamara, in March 1962. But they apparently were rejected by the civilian leadership and have gone undisclosed for nearly 40 years. "These were Joint Chiefs of Staff documents. The reason these were held secret for so long is the Joint Chiefs never wanted to give these up because they were so embarrassing," Bamford told ABCNEWS.com. "The whole point of a democracy is to have leaders responding to the public will, and here this is the complete reverse, the military trying to trick the American people into a war that they want but that nobody else wants." Gunning for War The documents show "the Joint Chiefs of Staff drew up and approved plans for what may be the most corrupt plan ever created by the U.S. government," writes Bamford. Last week I
promised to share with you an important historical document which could help
answer the question, “Did our
own government have a hand in the events of 911, or did someone within it
conspire to be sure they were not prevented?” We may
never know the answer to that. But
before you make up your own mind, consider The Northwoods Document.
It was issued in 1962, and was, at the time, Top Secret.
The Northwoods Document is
proof that, in the past, elements within our government have planned to
stage terrorists attacks against its own citizens to further the agenda of
those who stand behind the curtain, their hands on the controls.
The modus operandi is simple. Create
a problem, manufacture the reaction, and provide the solution you wanted
from the beginning. The
problem, or objective, was stated clearly. The Chief of Operations, Cuba
Project, wanted the Joint Chiefs of Staff to figure out pretexts they
believed would provide justification for “US military intervention in
Cuba”. (emphasis added)
They wanted war. The problem
was, Cuba wasn’t posing any real danger.
So, they had to make it look like Cuba was a threat.
They decided to, and this is a quote, “place the United States in
the apparent position of suffering defensible grievances from a rash
and irresponsible government of Cuba and to develop an international image
of a Cuban threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere.” The Joint
Chiefs were imaginative and resourceful in designing ways to accomplish the
goal. On Page 7 of the Appendix
to the report, in Paragraph 2, it says, “A series of well coordinated
incidents will be planned to take place in and around Guantanamo to give
genuine appearance of being done by hostile Cuban forces.”
Land friendly Cubans, in uniform, “over-the-fence” to stage
attack on base; capture (friendly) Cuban saboteurs inside the base; start
riots (friendly Cubans); blow up ammunition; sabotage ship in harbor; conduct
funerals for mock-victims. That’s
just the beginning. I’m
quoting Paragraph 3 because it’s so incredible you can’t believe it
unless you read the actual terms they used.
“We could blow up a US ship ..and blame Cuba.”
“We could blow up a drone (unmanned) vessel anywhere in the Cuban
waters. We could arrange to
cause such incident in the vicinity of Havana or Santiago as a spectacular
result of Cuban attack from the air or sea, or both. “ “We could develop
a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area…and even in
Washington.” “We could sink
a boatload of Cubans en route to Florida…” But the
best is in Paragraph 8. “It
is possible to create an incident which will demonstrate…that a Cuban
aircraft has attacked and shot down a chartered civil airliner…”
The report describes in precise detail how to accomplish this,
including painting a plane that actually belonged to the CIA to look like a
civilian aircraft, and have it “attacked” by a “MIG”.
They even figured it would be most believable to have civilian radio
stations able to tune in to the terrifying accounts by the “pilots” of
the chartered plane, and let them tell the U.S. what happened instead of the
military trying to “sell” the incident.
You have to
admit, they’re brilliant. The
American public would have been incensed, calling for blood.
With or without U.N. approval, a war could have been started with
Cuba. Why wasn’t it done?
Didn’t
need to. They got Vietnam
instead. And now, they have 911
and the war on terror. It
doesn’t matter which enemy. It’s
war. It’s money for those who
make money building the equipment and supplying the troops.
The added benefit is that you get rid of the ‘useless eaters’
that Henry Kissinger was so anxious to eliminate.
You learn exactly how the powerful feel about the men and women who
give their lives in service to their country when you read Kissinger’s
book Kiss the Boys Goodbye “Military
men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.”
Besides enriching the military-industrial complex, war eliminates
many “useless eaters”. And
it instills fear. The writer
Terry Tempest Williams said “The human heart is the first home of
democracy. Fill that heart with fear and people will give up the risks of
democracy for the assurances of security; fill that heart with fear and you
can shake the house to its foundations.”
We must not allow the elite to use fear to make it acceptable to use the military as law enforcement in this country. We cannot allow them to use fear to convince us that Habeas Corpus is a quaint but outmoded idea, or that we should accept searches without warrants. Let not the forces of fear shake this house of democracy to ruins.
