The Spielberg Remake

It was awful, everyone in the streets of New York were running and screaming, whilst the buildings behind them were collapsing, there were cries "Is it terrorists... is it terrorists?!", people were covered in the dust of debris and dying right there on the screen.  With aeroplane parts strewn all over, the police were trying their best to herd everyone, but it want enough to protect the citizens from the onslaught being unleashed just over their shoulders.  And all of this on a nice day, when you would least expect it.

You think I'm talking about the 911 attacks?  I very well could have been, however in this case I am actually referring to a recent movie called 'War of the Worlds'... you may have heard of it!

The Government Will Save Us

The movie opens with a faulty nanotechnology experiment that results in a massive, deadly explosion. The company's CEO manages to sidestep blame by framing a meddling young reporter (Katherine), who now holds the only surviving evidence needed to expose the truth. All the while, the dangerous nanoparticles - having escaped from the explosion into the stratosphere - threaten to destroy nearby cities with wildly destructive weather patterns. Among the chaos of the storms, and on the run from the authorities, Katherine must - with the help of a young scientist - get the evidence to the government to enlist their help before it's too late...and the deadly disaster turns worldwide.

CATEGORY 7: THE END OF THE WORLD begins where "Category 6: Day of Destruction" ended, as the ultimate superstorm continues to build in size. As the disastrous storm gathers even more strength and begins to ravage the rest of the world, FEMA's newly appointed director, Judith Carr (Gershon), has her hands full preparing for a cataclysmic storm in the U.S.

I have not yet seen the movie (and don't really want to) but I believe that the gist of the story is that a discovery is made by Nicolas Cage and associates, that the symbolism used by the forefathers on the dollar bill is actually a secret code to uncovering a 'splendid mystical journey' which will lead them to some secret treasure hidden by the heroic founding fathers.  How wonderful!

24 - (USA 2001+)

Group airs ad on 24, hoping to influence debate on Patriot Act

Jack Bauer, the fictional counterterrorism agent on the Fox Network's popular 24 show, hasn't actually waded into the debate on civil liberties versus terrorism surveillance as Congress considers making changes in the USA Patriot Act. But in the midst of the most recent episode of the white-knuckle TV drama, viewers in the nation's capital saw a message drawing on the show's themes that was intended to influence real-life political debate in a highly unusual way. 

During a commercial break while the fictional Bauer was desperately searching for canisters of deadly nerve gas that had fallen into the hands of terrorists, viewers saw an advertisement questioning the wisdom of real-life senators who would "weaken" the Patriot Act. "What if they are wrong?" the commercial asked.

A short children's story by Hans Christian Anderson

The following short story serves as a reminder that as individual citizens - at a time when 'the crowd' is in apathy concerning the truth in plain sight - to oppose the scam we see in front of our eyes, doesn't necessarily involve laying down in front of a moving train.

All it takes is for us to step out of such a crowd and say "Hey, what are we doing.  Why are we going along with this?, it's a scam!".

As you will see in the story, all it took to expose the truth was one little boy to step forward - without fear - and say "The Emperor is naked!".

The work of movie Director John Carpenter

Several of the films from John Carpenter speak to the fact that the New World Order is a part of life, be it the police state brought to you in Escape From New York and L.A., the apocalyptic themes of The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness, the dark occultic societal underbelly presented (with humour) in Big Trouble in Little China and the classic theme of 'don't trust your government' promoted in Memoirs of an Invisible Man.

We all remember the famous (or infamous rather) Lone Gunmen pilot episode, which aired six months prior to the September eleventh attacks and depicted a plot (on the part of the US shadow government) to fly a plane into the World Trade Centre and blame it on terrorists as a pretext for war.  The Lone Gunmen was of course a spin-off from the massively popular X-Files television series, which ran through the best part of the 1990’s and influenced/motivated many viewers to question what is going with our government(s).

It is no surprise looking back, to find the 1998 movie of the X-Files carry a tone which strongly mirrored important events. The plotline was centred around a bombing of a building where federal offices resided and was carried out by the government, in connection with a larger agenda.

The Running Man 2005: The Future Is Now

An external link to a report on infowars.com written by J.R.Skelton (webmaster of cremationofcare.com) on the 1987 action movie 'The Running Man'.

This reports on how the scenario depicted in the film is becoming closer to being realised than the average person may appreciate.

What once was a joke in a futuristic science fiction movie has once again caught up with reality. Viewers of Arnies and Sly's movies will remember the 'in-jokes' put into their movies to poke fun at each other.

I guess in 1993 when they made Demolition Man they figured 'Lets go for the most ridiculous futuristic prediction for Schwarzenegger and make him a President, oh yes he'll like that!'

2004 Extended DVD UK Edition

This 'Directors Cut' of the movie offers an extra (previously unseen) twelve minutes of footage which as the rear of the DVD cover states gives "more of the juicy malevolence and sinister background of Robin Hood's  archenemy the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman)"

TOMORROW NEVER DIES (UK 1997)

James Bond vs The NWO!

Here we have another ‘in your face’ example of popular culture moving into ‘art imitating life’ mode. The film is 1997’s ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ which was the 18th film in the widely popular James Bond franchise.
